The Early Years pupils at Merryfields have been longing for a beautiful and safe place to play and learn outside. The school had struggled to raise funds to provide such an environment until they met Andrew Chatterton, who is a Senior Partner of St. James's Place Partnership.
The company supported the school when we put in a bid of £10,000 to help us create our safe Early Years outdoor environment. Without their help we would still have a group of sad pupils with no outdoor play, and a group of sad staff with no safe outdoor facilities that all pupils can access, where the curriculum can be taken outdoor.
Andrew Chatterton has visited the school to see the work we do and on Monday 8th December 2008 he presented staff, pupils and parents with a cheque. Headteacher Sarah Poyner and staff are extremely grateful to the St. James's Place Foundation and especially Andrew Chatterton.
